The present world, especially the Muslim world, is in turmoil. Traditional, political, religious, and cultural identities no longer define national identity or contribute to a sense of belonging to the greater qnation of Islam.q In this dissertation, I examine the identity crisis of the people of Bangladesh, a nation where religious, political, and cultural identities are in constant debate.
